Static and scratchy sounds coming from door speakers

My stereo will work fine then all of the sudden the sound just comes out of the speaker on the dash and then it seems to correct itself and all the speakers have sound again. This happens frequently throughout the course of driving the vehicle. Sometimes I get loud static from all the door speakers. This comes and goes as well and is very loud. The static will continue even with the sound turned down and/or the entire entertainment system is shut off. Can anyone help or know the cause?
