The Lincoln MKZ was first introduced in 2006, but it had a different model name then. It became known as the first 'MK' vehicle for Lincoln in 2007, and since then it has led the way as Lincoln has begun re-establishing itself as a luxury brand.

In the first year it was on the market, the MKZ was called the Lincoln Zephyr, but that only lasted a year.

Under the Zephyr name, the MKZ only had one trim level and one powertrain option. Now the MKZ has a completely redesigned exterior, the second generation MKZ offers two trim levels and has three powertrain options, including a hybrid one.

Fun facts:

- Originally named the Lincoln Zephyr
- The MKZ Hybrid was the first hybrid to be priced the same as its traditionally powered counterpart
- Has been Lincoln’s best-selling vehicle since 2008
- Release of the second-generation MKZ was pushed back from November 2012 to January 2013 so Ford Motor Company could make sure there were no quality issues
- Was completely redesigned in 2013, which was debuted at the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS)

Here is the original Lincoln Zephyr at its debut in 2005.

Boy has it come a long way.
