Just thought that I would let everyone know that there has been a recall ordered for some 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ sedans.

The issue is the vehicles' seatback frames do not comply with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards. Certain driver and front passenger seatback assemblies may have been produced with substandard welds joining the seatback recliner mechanism to the seatback frame. This could increase the risk of injury in a collision.

No injuries or crashes have been reported.

Dealers will replace the seatback frame for free.

Thanks for posting this, fortunately there hasn't been any injuries due to this. At least they have the opportunity to prevent any unfortunate situations

Always glad to hear that they figure these things out before anyone gets hurt. This is just another recall done in the shadow of GM's debacle. I don't think that this affects that many MKZs though. Most people should be fine.

Recalls are like this in a lot cases, a lot of weird things like this pop up, as easy as they sound car makers still get them wrong.

So I wonder what would actually happen in a crash. Would the seat just recline all the way back or lunge forward? Would it break off altogether?

I am always curious how they find out about these problems before people get hurt. I guess people report it and thank gosh that they haven't been hurt by it yet.

Yup, it's not worth it. Who knows if anyone will bail them out or not. Do or die!
