I purchased my 2014 MKZ about 6 months ago with 64k miles and I didn’t notice the faded trim around the panoramic roof. They hid it really well because it looks like the clear coat has peeled off and there is no way it happened in the 6 months I’ve owned it. Has anyone seen this and if you have is there a fix I can apply? Otherwise I will have to order new trim and have a body shop put it on and that’s not going to be cheap!

Thanks - Michael

Mine is the same year and looks the same way. Cheaper fix is to get some black paint from a jobber, sand it, prime it, spray the black and clear it. I've done this before on older vehicles that had this issue on the door pillars and it works. U could even use a single stage urethane instead of base/clear.

they are cheap plastic panels that pop out. My 2013 was the same way. I had a body shop paint them with the body matched paint. Looks great with the metallic shine now.
My uncle acquired this 2013 MKZ and seems the plastic panel are pretty bad. We'll just finish installing the brake pads and black rhino truck wheels on the current Silverado project and we'll start working on it. Good thing the rust are not that bad.
