OBDII P2196

I recently purchased a 2017 MKZ, 2.0, with ~55k mi. Two days ago a P2196 code was set. In my limited research there are several causes, but before I get too far down the rabbit hole, is there anyone who had this scenario and what was the resolution? Is this common with this engine? Thanks in advance.

Hi pumpkin_hook and welcome to the Ford Fusion Club. No, the P2196 DTC is not a common issue.

All you can really do is follow the trouble shooting tree to attempt to eliminate all possibilities.

Take a look here: P2196 O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich (Bank 1 Sensor 1) DTC

Keep us updated and good luck.
I replaced the upper O2 sensor (what a pain to remove!) over 125mi ago. The STFT & LTFT did not change much. The STFT changes based on RPM as expected (remains less than 10%), however the LTFT has remained at the mid to high teens %. Are these numbers normal?

At idle, I noticed that there is a clicking noise originating near cylinder 1, underneath the air intake. It stops for about 3s every 60s. Is this normal?

The car calculated highway fuel mileage has remained at 28mpg max. I just filled the tank and will do a manual calculation when I refill.

I will update again.

Drove 300 mi recently. Car computer calculated mpg @ 28, I calculated 29 - can't complain, right? LTFT is down to 12.5% - heading in the right direction.

Anythoughts on the clicking?
