I think with current road infrastructures, self piloting cars are long time away. Maybe for highway driving or small country roads we might start seeing some advances. But I couldn't imagine this kind of technology any time soon in a densely populated area like a city.

Well with the lane departure warning system and sensors in the works already on most luxury vehicles maybe some sort of system could work in harmony with all the componnents and voila self driving and steering cars!
