I think those are just exhaust covers, sadly. Kinda reminds me of what Lexus did with their previous ISF. I do like the looks but if it was actually functional that would be a plus.
they made the exhaust separate for a reason. The covers are integrated in the bumper and its plastic so when you add heat guess what happens. It will melt or warp the bumper.

Makes sense.

the third brake light is now integrated in the trunk which is a plus since there is no room on the rear window and it doesn't help how the panaramic roof slides back.

What are those circle indents on the rear bumper?

well the panoramic roof is not standard but a $3000 option if you want it. To me it just means a better accessible spot if you were to replace the third brake lamp not that you should ever really come across that but better than having to take the headliner apart to get to it.

The circle indents on the rear bumper are proximity sensors for when your using your rear camera and parking backing up.

They are almost always exhaust covers. You will rarely find non super performance cars have a real exhaust tip like that.

I believe even for exotics the tip might be real but if you look into it. It doesn't go to the muffler it goes to a smaller pipe which then goes to a muffler.

Because if that was actually the exhaust tip, the muffler would be loud as heck.

they probably did that so the paint won't melt from the exhaust which is smart but they could have kept that whole area painted and had something around the exhaust tips that won't burn up or melt.
The tips are most likely just covers. the bumper would melt the way its held in their.
very true, but they could have done a better job at making it look more clean. mercedes is a good example of what should be done.

I like the exhaust and the general design but I do think the bumper looks cheap compared to the rest of the car. Maybe if Lincoln were to use a different material it would look better.
i don't think material is what it is, it's just how they shape it and dyed it. It's probably the same or similar material that other car makers with cool diffuser-like rear bumper pieces have.

it would be great as a mid-cycle refresh feature

at the bare minimum the same diffuser piece with some design lines to flow with the rest of the design along with a paint scheme to pull it all together better would help and be cheaper for lincoln.....guys at lincoln...are you listening???
