Is that because it was priced higher before, or just because people have some type of natural aversion to hybrids? Everything I've heard about the MKZ Hybrid has been positive, so I am surprised by that.
some of it has to do with the QC issues coming out of the Hermosillo manufacturing facility in Mexico. When the MKZ was launched during the Superbowl ford didnt actually have any inventory of MKZs, the delay in production actually cooled off interest quite a bit as excited buyers went to the dealers and were told sorry, QC issues. I'm certainly not coming back after that, are you?
People do have a natural aversion to Hybrids but i think thats because any efficiency advantages they have are marginal at best. Savings are much more noticeable in EVs. Another factor could be the way the Hybrid system is designed, Hybrids running on electricity are boring. A much cooler Hybrid system has electric and gas working in conjunction, electric power kicks in to give performance boost and reduce fuel consumption.
For example during standstill acceleration the electricity would help the car out of the hole or when overtaking the hybrid shoots a jolt of power through the system similar to KERS in F1 so the vehicle doesnt have to downshift and sprint, it cruises past with the smooth pull of electricity.
