Ford has issued a recall for Lincoln MKZ sedans built between 2006 and 2011. It also applies to Ford Fusions, Mecury Milans, and Zephyrs.

The issue has to do with all-weather floor mats that might have been improperly installed at the factory, in that they were not secured to the retention device, double-stacked, or secured to a single retention device but grossly out of position. The mat could move and may interfere with the accelerator pedal. This same problem led to Toyota making a big recall in 2009.

The fix will be ready by July of this year. When parts and procedure info are available, Ford will mail vehicle owners involved via mail. Ford hasn't given any suggestions as to what to do until they come up with a fix, but one would assume you could just remove the mats.
