Forsure the new 2013 front looks more modern and stylish. You could gauge the time of both when you look at them. I find the older cars in general have a bolder look to them. Where as in the new ones now have a smaller headlight and smoother grille.

This. I actually do prefer the older look with the more square designs. But the new 2013 MKZ is following the current trend with modern cars where everything flows and is more curved. They both look very nice IMO.
