Check out the razzle dazzle headlamps from the MKZ concept. I really hope as the cost of LED headlamps comes down these become a feature of the Lincoln lineup. They're absolutely stunning, remind me of stars, very organic...

likely cost of production and certification that held them back. Or perhaps they didnt feel consumers were ready for that type of tech. I really think with the Scale ford has they could easily transition Fords and Lincolns to LED's...

But I'm just a fisherman who dont know nothing...

i'm not sure how the internals of these led lights work. but i do know led lights are very directional unlike xenon bulbs that give a 360 degree spread of light. so the projectors would have to be completely different in an led headlight.
likely why you get this twinkle twinkle little star effect happening on the concept mkz, its the only way to get sufficient spread...

That could be true since the Acura jewel eye LED headlights also seem to have multiple led lights in it with plenty of materials to direct the light in different directions. I think that that could mean that the cars of the future will end up having far different looking light than we are used to now.
well and Audi has been working on directional LEDs and laser for quite some time, so that when you're turning on say a dark and winding road instead of the headlamps trailing off into the weeds they stay focused on the roadway. Although directional lights are really nothing new, I believe there had been moving projectors/halogens in the past...
