Could China be the thing that injects life into Lincoln?

Ford sold 600,000 vehicles in China through September, which represents a 51% increase over the previous year. The Chinese really seem to like their Fords, but will they give the same love to Lincoln?

Ford plans to bring Lincoln to China, and given that Lincolns are big and efficient, they could be a great success there. There is less of a brand reputation for Lincoln already established in China, which means that Lincoln has a clean slate to start out in China.

Another reason Lincoln could do well is the hatred for the Japanese that is innate in China. When you have people purposely not buying Japanese simply because they are Japanese, it really makes things a lot easier.

As long as Lincoln does give them vehicles that works well for their Market, everything should work well for them. I know long wheel base models would be needed. LWB MKZ Hybrid to battle the LWB Q50 Hybrid in China
600k cars is alot for Ford but 600k cars sold in China compared to total cars sold in China is an ant in a colony.
Remember that Infiniti is a Japanese company. I think that the Chinese will naturally be less likely to buy it simply because its Japanese. That gives Lincoln and the Americans generally a bit of a leg up on the Japanese automakers. Who ever would have thought that ethnic hatred could end up being beneficial for huge American corporations?

I could see a LWB MKZ Hybrid doing really well in China. Lincoln just needs to make sure that it gets to China quickly, as the market keeps getting more and more companies and brands selling in it.
I totally forgot about that. this goes far back when Japan invaded China. Not sure if the hatred would get in the way of business but it very mcuh still there. Lincoln should make their move soon.

Infiniti is already one step ahead. I doubt a lot of Chinese people will continue to hate on the Japanese, Infiniti is expanding their for a reason. The Q50 LWB is already set to make it's way their.

They're even building cars in China: Infiniti Announces Two Vehicles for Production in China - Infiniti Online Newsroom
“China is a key market in Infiniti’s growth strategy,” said de Nysschen. “The decision to offer two vehicles specifically designed for the Chinese market and produce them locally, is further evidence of our globalization strategy.

“Last year, we established our global company headquarters in Hong Kong in order to be even better positioned to serve China, the world’s largest luxury market. We are expanding our product portfolio with two new models especially for the Chinese market in 2014 and plans are underway to significantly increase the dealer network from currently 60 to 80 dealers in 2014.”

china being a key market says a lot
puts it up to par with america
asia does like to buy american products. the same fascination some might have for japanese or german cars in america is the same fascination that asia has with imported brands.

That's what i noticed, Infiniti has a lot of American and European influence, it's probably why the Chinese love it, debadge it and people would probably think it's something German.
China as a whole is a growing industry.

Pretty much every industry is growing rapidly.

Anyone who ignores it will be missing out on profits.
Chinese growth is a lie, its the last bastion of funny money and everybody is scrambling for a piece of the pie.

If they have never seen it before I bet the MKZ can pass as European.

Very true, if they created a new luxury brand filled with a bunch of rebadged Lincolns it could be the better move for them.

what about it is a lie? it is growing rapidly. maybe not as rapidly as some reports might claim but its still growing pretty darn fast.

it sure beats the growth here stateside
The fact that a number of car makers are setting up shop in China and making vehicle specifically for them is already a big sign that growth is happening big time in China. It's a big car maker battle now.
well if you compare the economy of america to china in terms of buying cars.

here in america the new generation of youth is being criticized for not buying cars and taking public transit or using car sharing services. and the baby boomers are the only ones who still are buying cars on a regular basis.

and in china the massive population is growing in wealth and now are looking at buying their first cars. they are buying up every car possible

big difference.
