Panoramic Roof on the 2013 Lincoln MKZ

The 2013 Lincoln MKZ embodies an all-new experience with a 15.2 square-foot skylight, one of the largest retractable glass roof panels in a production sedan.

Key elements of the 2013 Lincoln MKZ's retractable glass roof include: a wind deflector for a soothing ride within the cabin, the self-adjustable roof moves eight inches forward at speeds above 40 miles per hour to maintain a quiet riding environment and a watertight cabin in the face of the most demanding conditions.

I wish the MKZ didn't have what seems to be like "tracks" for it to roll on, on the rear windsheild, that whole area kinda throws me off. Im pretty sure there was a cleaner way of making it all work.

This iwll be one of the MKZ's praised features. It's basically like having a convertible. I like the idea and it works for those nice breezy summer days. the track on the rear window dont bother me that much since i won't be paying much attention to the rear.

The look of the tracks on the rear window don't bother me but i could see the mechanism having issues down the road. Being exposed to the elements and driving all year round, debris can get in to the tracks and cause seizing issues. It might not be able to open a function once summer comes back around.

I spotted a camera on top of the trunk, at first I thought it was a satellite antenna. There is a screen on the dash that looks different than the one for the rear view when parking. I think that this camera and screen turns on when you have the retractable glass roof open to aid visibility.

I could be wrong but it all makes too much sense.

Gauging from where that camera is makes it more possible, usually rear view cameras are placed more towards or between the tail lights or next to the keyhole. I could see this camera being vandalized though it stands out so much.

seems like lincoln had no choice but to add a rear mounted camera just so drivers can see out the rear as with the panoramic roof, low roof line and thick c pillars, visibility is going to be poor.

even range rover did this with their Range Rover Evoque since the rear windshield was so small.

Well at least they made it work some were quick to point out the flaws before they could even figure it out. Guess its optional or you have to turn it on. Don't know how the car reviewers missed that one.
