TFLCar Reviews the 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

One of my favorite auto sites, TFLCar.com, has just released its review of the 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. They gave it a rating of "BUY IT!" which I am going to guess is a pretty high rating.

In their final summary of the MKZ, TFL starts off by complaining about Lincoln's naming scheme, which I will agree is confusing to people who aren't in the know about these things on a day to day basis. After that they have this to say though:

Quote:
Okay, having gotten that off my chest, letís move on to state that the 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is a very desirable four-door mid-luxury sedan. It is attractive and performs well even as a hybrid vehicle that delivers up to 45 mpg. The push-button transmission is intuitive and simple in its operation. The air conditioning in my test car seemed to be lacking in its cooling performance, even at the lowest temperature setting. If you require more power, the non-hybrid EcoBoost fourbanger provides a viable alternative.
The review is a nice and in-depth. Definitely worth checking out. Now if only they would do a video review instead of a written one.

Interesting that he says the a/c is lacking. Our MKZ bought 4 days ago really cranks out the cold air better than our previous 2011 MKS (which may account for less than optimum mpg as well as the car being new). The temps here in southern NV are now over 100 during the day and you could get comfortable in the car even if you wore a jacket, lol!

Is your MKZ a hybrid? I feel like the battery power that is used for the hybrid engine may take away power from the AC system. That's just my guess.

If that question was for me, the answer is "yes". The a/c is incredibly cold. As for the battery, I would guess that with temps here over 100F that it is negatively affecting mpgs.
Still, on a trip to the store yesterday, we got 42.6mpg going there and 36.7mpg coming back. (Distance 9.7 miles.) Hard to understand the difference as the roads are pretty flat here in the valley.

I'm curious why it was off by so much too. It's hard to tell without a real professional test. Did you have the air conditioner on both ways?
